Two dog walkers sought as police chase coward mugger who pushed elderly lady into bushes

Police have issued descriptions of two potential witnesses to the mugging of an elderly lady in Bearsden.

As reported on Glasgow Live, the 78-year-old woman was walking on Milngavie Road around 8.40am on Sunday (September 27). Near the junction with Kilmardinny Avenue, she was approached by a tall suspect who pushed her into the bushes and tried to steal her handbag.

He ran off towards Bearsden and the victim did not require hospital treatment - however Police Scotland are keen to track him down, today issuing a call for two dog walkers seen in the area at the time.

Detective Sergeant Scott McNulty, of Govan CID, said: "Officers have been conducting enquiries and we are particularly keen to speak to two people who we believe were in the area at the time of the incident – a man who was walking a small black dog on a red dog lead and a woman who was wearing dark clothing, walking a dark coloured sheepdog type of dog.

"We would also ask anyone else who was in the area around the time of the incident, including cyclists with footage or anyone with dash-cam footage that can assist our investigation to get in touch."

The suspect is white, around 6ft2 in height and slim - he was wearing a blue jacket, light trousers and a light coloured cap at the time.

Anyone with info should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 0935 of 27 September.
