Two die in head-on crash in Ayrshire and other driver leaves scene

Police are appealing for assistance from the public after two men died in a head-on crash in Ayrshire.

A white Volkswagen Golf and a white Volkswagen Scirocco collided westbound on the B7036, near the Barony A Frame, in Auchinleck. 

The incident happen around 4.05 pm yesterday afternoon.


The driver of the VW Golf, 54-year-old Kevin Hall from Ochiltree, Ayrshire, and his passenger, Douglas Murray, 37, from Auchinleck, died at the scene.

Enquiries are ongoing with regard to the identity of the driver of the VW Scirocco who left the scene prior to police arrival.

Sergeant Kevin Blackley of Ayrshire's Road Policing Unit said:

The fatal incident happen around 4.05 pm yesterday afternoon near to the Barony A Frame (Google Maps)


"Two men have lost their lives as a result of this crash and enquiries are ongoing.

"We are urging anyone who may have seen either vehicle prior to the collision, or who witnessed the crash, to contact us as soon as possible.

“We are especially interested in speaking to motorists who may have dashcam footage of either vehicles in the Auchinleck area or footage following the crash that could help us with our investigation.”

The road was closed for approximately seven hours to allow investigations at the scene.
