Two deaths as another 293 COVID-19 cases detected in NSW

TWO people have died with COVID-19 in NSW, taking the state's COVID-19 death toll to 508.

NSW had 293 fresh cases in Thursday's update, with 381 people in hospital and 82 requiring intensive care.

The state's cases, which have dipped back below 300 after climbing over that mark on Wednesday, arrive alongside Victoria's deadliest day of the outbreak so far.

93.3 per cent of people aged 16+ have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 86 per cent of people aged 16+ have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

There were 89,678 tests in the 24-hour period.

No new overseas cases were recorded.

Details of the two deaths and a regional breakdown of cases are expected from 11am.
