Two deaths and over 1,000 new Covid cases recorded in Bristol region

Two more deaths and over 1,000 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed across the Bristol region in the last 24 hours.

According to the latest government data published on Sunday, October 24, a total of 1,083 new Covid cases have been recorded across the region.

The City of Bristol recorded the biggest rise with 367 new cases confirmed since yesterday.

South Gloucestershire recorded the second most with 298 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.

This brings the total number of cases over 35,000 in South Gloucestershire since the pandemic began.

The number of positive test results in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results in brackets.

  • City of Bristol: 66,524 (+367)
  • Bath and North East Somerset: 22,801 (+223)
  • North Somerset: 22,953 (+195)
  • South Gloucestershire: 35,254 (+298)

The number of deaths recorded in each area of Somerset since the beginning of the pandemic are as follows:

  • Bath and North East Somerset: 242 (+1)
  • City of Bristol: 552 (+1)
  • North Somerset: 343 (-)
  • South Gloucestershire: 381 (-)

UK Figures

Nationwide a further 72 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 139,533.

The latest data for Saturday, October 23 show there was a further 39,962 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of cases to 8,773,674.

Government data up to October 23 shows that a total of 95,226,529 Covid jabs have been given in the UK.

49,684,322 were first doses, with 45,542,207 second doses.
