Man charged over deadly crash after teens allegedly steal car from his home

Police were called to the Abbotsbury roundabout after the crash early in the morning.

A Western Sydney man has been charged after he pursued three teenagers who allegedly stole a car from his home, ending in a horror car crash which left two boys dead.

It is understood the man, from Edmondson Park, had chased the teenagers in a second car early on Sunday morning after they allegedly stole a vehicle.

Police were called to a roundabout in Abbotsbury, 40 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD, about 4:20am after reports a car had hit a pole.

When they arrived they found a smashed black Holden Commodore SS on the corner of Cowpasture Road and The Horsley Drive.

"Police have been told the vehicle was travelling north on Cowpasture Road when it left the roadway before the roundabout and hit a pole," NSW Police said in a statement.

Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 17, were dead at the scene.

Tributes — including flowers, teddy bears and full beer bottles — have been left at the crash site.

The 37-year-old man was arrested and taken to Fairfield police station.

He was charged with five offences: two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and two counts of negligent driving occasioning death.

A third teenager, another 17-year-old boy, was taken to hospital where he remains under police guard with "non-life-threatening injuries".

The 37-year-old man has been granted bail to appear in Liverpool Local Court on November 25.
