Phetchaburi: A man has surrendered to police after allegedly shooting and killing a fellow clothing vendor and his mother, and seriously wounding his father at a local market in Khao Yao district yesterday.
Cherdchai Duangjit, 51, pulled the trigger on Sitthichoke Losong, 24, and his parents, Supatra Khamtim, 43, and Alongkorn Losong, 49 at the Nong Prong weekend market in tambon Nong Prong around 5.20am yesterday, police said.
National police chief Krissana Pattanacharoen said Sitthichoke was killed on the spot while Supatra died on the way to the local hospital. Mr Alongkorn, the father, was seriously wounded and was being treated at Phra Chomklao Hospital in Muang district.
Pol Col Somdet Thittawattanasakul, chief of Phetchaburi police, said Mr Cherdchai gave himself in to police hours after the murder.
He presented as evidence the .38 pistol he allegedly used to shoot the family. Police charged him with murder. Investigators visited the scene of the crime to gather evidence including spent shells from the .38 pistol.
Pol Col Somdet said the suspect and the family had been embroiled in a feud over their clothes-vending business for some time.
The two sides had engaged in a heated argument yesterday before Mr Cherdchai took out the gun and shot the family, he said.
He added the suspect had fled the scene after the shooting but later contacted the police and arranged to meet them.
