Two people have been killed and several others injured after a gunman reportedly opened fire with a machine gun near to a German synagogue.
Police are urging people in the city of Halle in the Paulus district to "find safe places" as they hunt the gunman who reportedly left the scene in a car heading towards Leipzig.
Officers in Halle have confirmed that at least two people have died and say the operation to find the suspect is "ongoing", the Mirror reports.
A hand grenade is also said to have been thrown at a nearby Jewish cemetery.
Police tweeted asking people to "stay in their homes" or find somewhere safe as they search the area "with high pressure".
According to local media , the gunman fired several shots with a machine gun, hitting a woman and injuring several others.
