A shooting has left two people dead and several others injured on the Greek island of Crete.
Two suspects armed with AK-47 assault rifles and shotguns opened fire on the streets of Vorizia, in the central part of the island, at around 11am on Saturday.
A 39-year-old man and 56-year-old woman were killed during the onslaught, The Sun reports.
Ten others were injured in the shooting and four people were transferred to hospital.
Police revealed that two of those hospitalised are being investigated over their roles in the shooting.
No arrests have been made so far however those responsible for the shooting are believed to have escaped to a nearby ravine.
A police spokesman said that attack came just hours after an explosion at a nearby building site on Friday night.
The improvised explosive device (IED) let off a loud bang that witnesses say could be heard from miles around. There were no injuries, with the only damage done to the building under construction.
Crete is known to have rival criminal families with a history of vendettas, often breaking into violence over a perceived insult or bid for revenge.
Two families in particular were involved in a recent dispute over grazing land, which was mediated.
But disagreements are said to have flared up once more when a member of one family bought a house on the site of land owned by another - which happened to be the construction site of Friday's explosion.
Illegal gun ownership is a recognised problem in Crete and firearms are often discharged to honour major events such as weddings and festivals.
But guns have also been used in family vendettas. Last Sunday, a 52-year-old college professor was shot dead in western Crete, while visiting his family.
