Two cyclists injured in separate hit-and-run incidents on North Tyneside coast

Two cyclists were knocked down within 15 minutes in two separate hit-and-run collisions in North Tyneside.

Police are investigating the seafront crashes which happened on Tuesday evening in Whitley Bay and Cullercoats.

It is believed two different vehicles were involved however the investigation is still ongoing.

The first crash happened shortly after 7.30pm on Windsor Crescent, Whitley Bay.

It was reported a cyclist was hit by a car which was then driven away.

The cyclist sustained minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment.

Then just before 7.45pm, police received a report of a collision close by on Victoria Crescent, Cullercoats.

This was another cyclist hit by a car which did not stop at the scene.

It is thought the cyclist sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Inquiries remain ongoing into both crashes.

Anyone with any information about the crash on Windsor Crescent is asked to contact police via 101 quoting reference number 1082 23/06/20.
