Two cyclists and pedestrian hit by van

The van that hit two cyclists and a pedestrian at West Beach.

A pedestrian is in a critical condition and two cyclists — a man and a boy — have been injured after a van ran off the road and crashed into them in Adelaide's west.

The van then crashed into a Stobie pole.

Emergency services were called to Military Road at West Beach after reports of an accident about 10:20am.

SA Police said the pedestrian — a 44-year-old man from Mitchell Park — suffered critical injuries and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

One of the cyclists — a 41-year-old man — was in a serious but stable condition at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The other cyclist was a 12-year-old boy who was taken to the Women's and Children's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The van driver was a 55-year-old man from Fulham who was taken to Flinders Medical Centre. There was no update on his condition.

Major Crash officers are investigating whether the driver of the van suffered a medical episode prior to the crash.

The crash occurred near the West Beach caravan park and a mini golf course.

Military Road was closed between West Beach and Africaine roads for several hours but has since reopened.
