Two critically injured after serious crash that caused a power cut in Porth

Police are appealing for information after a serious multi-vehicle crash left two people critically injured.

The crash happened on Trebanog Road, Porth at around 9am on Wednesday, September 16.

A coach was in collision with a number of moving and parked vehicles as it travelled along Trebanog Road.

In total five people required hospital treatment.

One man and one woman, who were in separate vehicles, remain at hospital and both are in a critical condition.

Three other people sustained minor injuries, including the driver of the coach.

The crash is understood to have caused a power outage in the local area and Western Power staff were working at the scene to rectify it on Wednesday evening.

Speaking in the aftermath of the crash a local resident said: "It looks really bad, there are around five police cars here, ambulances and a fire engine.

"It looks like someone is being cut out of a van which is on its side and there is a car crashed into a lamppost.

"There is a bus further down the road too. All the power has gone off in the houses around here."

A spokesman for South Wales Police added on Wednesday evening: "The road remains closed while investigations are carried out at the scene and it will remain closed for some time until the work is complete.

"The public are thanked for their understanding and cooperation at this time.

"Anybody who may have witnessed what happened is urged to contact 101 and give reference *338707."
