Two coronavirus mobile testing units moved out of Bristol

Two coronavirus mobile testing centres have been moved out of Bristol, it has been confirmed.

The drive-through sites at Computershare in Bridgwater Road and Portway park and ride, run by the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC), are needed elsewhere in the South West where the infection rates are higher.

In a weekly Covid-19 email newsletter to residents, Bristol City Council said: “The mobile testing units have been temporarily moved within the region.

“These facilities are deployed specifically in areas where the rates are high or increasing rapidly.

“They will be brought back to Bristol if and when we need them.

“It is encouraging to see that local rates are dropping, however, we should not get complacent and everyone must continue to follow the government guidance to keep our city and each other safe. “

Anyone who develops coronavirus symptoms and needs to get a test still has access to four other sites in the city – Hengrove Leisure Park, Brislington park and ride, Netham Park and at the rear of the Victoria Rooms.

You can book a test on the NHS website or by ringing 119.

The DHSC has been asked where the two mobile testing units are now.
