Two cases of coronavirus have been confirmed at one of the largest schools in Newcastle.
Kenton School, on Kenton Lane in the city, is an 11 to 19 academy and has around 1,800 pupils.
It reopened to students in the second week of September with a raft of measures in place to help limit the spread of Covid-19.
However, along with scores of others schools in the North East, Kenton has also now been affected by coronavirus.
The school has had two positive cases over the last week and parents were informed of this through letters.
One of the notes, from principal Sarah Holmes-Carne, says: "We have been advised that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within the school.
"We have carried out a full risk assessment and identified all those who have been in close contact with the affected case and have recommended that they stay at home and self-isolate until 14 days after their last contact."
Children who have not been in close contact with those affected by the virus have been asked to follow their usual routine and attend classes as normal.
Last month, the academy told ChronicleLive about the extensive changes made at the site ahead of its reopening.
Bosses said they had completely changed the way the school operated, with pupils now mainly staying put and teachers being the ones to move between classrooms.
Portable sinks, automatic hand sanitiser machines and social distancing rules are in place.
Schools across the region say they are following Government guidance on what to do if there is a positive case of Covid-19.
Of the schools affected in the North East, some have partially closed and carried out deep cleans, while others have asked year groups or bubbles to self-isolate.
