CHENNAI: A week after a man beat his sexagenarian uncle, the latter's son, a college student, murdered him with the help of two friends near Kolathur on Friday night. All three were arrested on Saturday.
Police said V Arumugam, 27, of Villupuram district had been staying at his uncle Kumaravel's house in Puthagaram near Kolathur and was employed at a shop selling construction material in the locality.
A week ago, a quarrel broke out between Arumugam and Kumaravel and the former allegedly beat his uncle. Kumaravel's son Ajith Kumar, BCom student, who came to know about the assault on Friday decided to eliminate Arumugam, who is related to him as uncle.
Ajith Kumar, his friend R Rajesh Kumar, 19, also a finalyear college student and N Ashok, 21, of T P Chathiram, a history-sheeter, hacked Arumugam to death at Subash Nagar on Friday.
Ajith Kumar informed his mother Alamelu about the murder and the woman alerted police.
