Two Chinese nabbed in nominee bust

Police have arrested two Chinese nationals following coordinated raids on suspected nominee-linked property networks at five locations across Bangkok.

The Economic Crime Suppression Division of the Royal Thai Police said the operation was linked to alleged use of Thai nominees to conceal foreign ownership of luxury real estate worth hundreds of millions of baht.

On Friday officers first detained a suspect identified as Mr Siming at a luxury residence in Bang Kapi. A second suspect, Mr Hao, identified as the alleged network leader, was arrested at another Bangkok property.

Investigators said the network used Thai nominees and corporate structures to acquire high-value homes and condominiums, with Mr Hao accused of coordinating transactions for Chinese clients in exchange for commissions.

Both suspects have been charged under foreign business and labour-related laws and deny the allegations.
