Two children have been rushed to hospital after being swept out to sea.
It happened shortly after 3pm when three people - the children and one adult - were seen to be having trouble at Dymchurch off the Kent coast.
A coastguard helicopter was spotted hovering above the water, with reports of multiple people needing rescued as emergency services, attended.
The trio are believed to have been swimming in the sea at the time of the incident, Kent Live reports.
In a statement, a Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesman said: "At just after 3pm this afternoon, HM Coastguard received multiple 999 calls about three people, two children and one adult, in difficulty in the water off Dymchurch, Kent."
