Two children taken to hospital after being hit by car in Swansea

Two children have been injured and taken to hospital after they were hit by a car.

The collision happened shortly before 2.40pm on Cockett Road in Swansea on Friday, September 11.

A large police presence was at the scene on Friday afternoon and into Friday evening, along with paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service.

A stretch of the road was closed for more than three hours as far as the junction with Gors Avenue, and police advised people to avoid the area.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called at approximately 2.38pm to reports of a road traffic accident involving a vehicle and pedestrians on Cockett Road, Swansea.

“We responded with one rapid response vehicle, two emergency ambulances and one specialised medical car.”

The road reopened at around 6.20pm and an appeal for information has now been launched.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: “We are appealing for information after a road traffic collision between a car and two children on Cockett Road at 2.40pm today.

“The two children were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The road re-opened at 6.20pm

“Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting occurrence 2000332472.”
