Two children are in hospital with serious injuries after a crash between a car and a lorry.
The collision happened at around 4pm on a road near the A470 in Pontypridd.
The road was closed for several hours as a result of the crash, which police say involved a goods vehicle and a red Peugeot car.
Several police cars and emergency ambulances attended the scene.
South Wales Police is now appealing for witnesses and for anyone who may have dash cam footage of the incident to come forward.
A spokesman for the force said: “We are appealing for information after a serious road traffic collision on in Pontypridd involving a goods vehicle and a red Peugeot car.
“The collision happened at about 4pm on the road between the Pontypridd roundabout and the Brown Lennox Roundabout adjacent to the Pontypridd retail park.
“Two children have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or was in the area with dash cam footage is asked to contact 101 quoting occurrence 2000331285.”
The road has since reopened.
