Two children rushed to hospital after being struck while cycling in Co Tipperary

Two kids have been rushed to hospital after a collision in Co Tipperary on Monday evening.

The children, believed to both be under 12, were struck by a car while on a bicycle.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene and treated the children at the roadside, before one was taken to Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin.

The other was taken by ambulance to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel, RTE reports.

A source said: “The child was out playing on a bike when the incident happened. One was airlifted to hospital after the accident.”

Gardai in Thurles are investigating.

A Garda spokeswoman added: “Gardaí are currently attending the scene of a Road Traffic Collision on the Thurles to Moyne Rd, Co. Tipperary which occurred this evening Monday 19th August 2019.

“The road is currently closed with local diversions in place.”
