Two children orphaned after parents killed in horror smash - their uncle also died

Two children have been orphaned after their parents were killed in a horror smash.

Their uncle also tragically died.

Yanna Kockova, her husband Marko Godla and her brother Tomas Kocko died in Peterborough shortly after midnight on Sunday.

Yanna and Marko, understood to be in their 20s, leave behind two young childre aged two and one, a relative said, the Mirror reports.

Police say a car went the wrong way down a slip road and crashed into another head on, killing all three of the people inside.

The driver of the other vehicle was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of drink and/or drugs. He is in a critical condition in hospital.

Tributes have been paid on social media as their friends and family come to terms with the tragedy.

Milan Godla, in an emotional tribute to Marko on Facebook, said: "Feeling sad and heartbroken after hearing news from my family this morning.

"My cousin has been involved in car crash last night with his wife and her brother in Peterborough county.

Milan added: "You will be missed. Rest in peace."

Michael Rios wrote: "My two favourite cousins lost their lives in a serious car crash today."

He added: "Fly high my angels.

"Gone but never forgotten. I love you."

Stephen Joty posted a photo of Tomas and wrote: "Brother...I won't forget you."

Under another picture, he said: "My brother...I will never see you again."

Posting photos of Yanna, Stephen said: "I love you, I will never forget you."

Tomas was described by an old school friend as "a caring and lovely boy".

One witness, who called 999, said the crash scene was 'horrific' and added: "I told the police I thought there would definitely be fatalities."

The chair of the Cambridgeshire Police Federation, Liz Groom, tweeted that her thoughts were with the 'families of those who have died' and also with 'officers and emergency services colleagues who attended'.

The road was closed westbound on Sunday morning and reopened in the afternoon.

A statement from Cambridgeshire Police read: "Three people have died in a collision on the Fletton Parkway just after midnight today (Sunday, 14 April).

"Police were called to a collision involving two vehicles at the slip road to Stanground on the westbound carriageway.

"One vehicle had driven down the slip road the wrong way and collided head-on with another vehicle, killing all three of its occupants.

"The driver of the offending vehicle has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of drink and/or drugs. He is in a critical condition in hospital.

"The road has been closed westbound this morning however it has now reopened."
