Two children have been left seriously injured in separate dog attacks in the West Midlands.

A two-year-old boy was attacked by three dogs on Monday at a property in Egdon, West Mercia Police confirmed.

Superintendent Rebecca Love said an investigation is underway and the three dogs have been removed from the property.

She added: “Our thoughts remain with the child and his family at this difficult time.

"Incidents of this nature are rare in our area but we do understand how distressing they can be for the local community."

The family had attempted to take the toddler to hospital but they were advised to stop at the Worcester Countryside Centre by the ambulance service.

The boy remains at the hospital in a critical condition at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Chief Inspector Fergus Green, said previously: “This is an incredibly sad incident and our thoughts are with the young child and his family.

“I’d like to offer reassurance that the dogs involved have now been secured and removed from the property in Egdon, and therefore pose no risk to the public.

“A police presence will remain in place at both Worcester Countryside Centre and the address in Egdon for some time.

“Investigations are ongoing in to the circumstances of the incident. We do not believe the dogs to be breeds banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 .

"We will provide further updates on the case as soon as we are able to.”

This follows a separate incident on Saturday where an eight-year-old boy was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries in Cannock, Staffordshire.
