Two children arrested by Gardai after allegedly assaulting staff and stealing wine at Dublin shop

Two children have been arrested following an alleged robbery and assault incident at a retail premises in north Dublin that saw a staff member left with head injuries.

Just before 10pm last night, the two youths, one boy in his late teens and the other a middle aged teen, entered a shop on the Shantalla Road in the Dublin 9 area.

The boy aged in his late teens is reported to have assaulted a member of staff before both youths left the scene with a stolen bottle of wine.

The injured staff member, a man in his 30s, received head injuries.

Officers on patrol in the area at the time located and arrested the youths a short time later.

They were taken to Ballymun Garda Station, detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and remain in Garda custody at this time.
