Two children approached by a stranger in Clevedon who asked them to get into his car

Police are investigating after two children were approached by a stranger who asked them to get into his car.

The incident happened in Clevedon on the same day police said it was investigating three separate incidents of men approaching and talking to schoolchildren from inside vehicles.

Also on Thursday, Bristol Live reported a girl was approached and spoken to by two men sitting in a car near the Oasis Academy in Brislington on Wednesday morning (September 30).

Avon and Somerset Police have now confirmed a fourth incident has been reported to the force.

A police spokeswoman said: "We received a call from a member of the public at about 10am on Thursday, October 1 reporting that two school-aged children walking towards Clevedon School were approached by an unknown man who asked them to get into his car.

"The children ran away from the suspect and were not harmed in the incident."

Enquiries are ongoing to establish a description of the suspect and an officer has attended the school and issued advice.

Anyone with information that could assist police with their enquiries is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 0259 – 1 October.
