Brothers charged with murder of Rebels bikie chief who was allegedly given lethal drug cocktail

Two brothers have been charged with the murder of former Rebels bikie Ricky Ciano, whose body was found inside a car near Oberon in the NSW Central Tablelands in 2017.

Detectives from the NSW Homicide Squad arrested

Half-brothers, John Jamie Tozer, 33, and Daniel Michael Bushell, 44, were arrested on Thursday.

Both men were charged with murder.

Mr Bushell will also face a "tamper with evidence with intent to mislead judicial tribunal" charge.

Police say the pair, whose matters were mentioned at Lithgow Local Court today, gave Mr Ciano a lethal cocktail of prescription and prohibited drugs then drove him to Duckmaloi and abandoned his car with his body inside.

Lawyers for the pair did not apply for their bail, and the matters will be back in court in September.

Mr Ciano's body was found on Valentine's Day last year, reportedly partially clothed.

At the time, a friend, who asked not to be named, said Mr Ciano, 35, sent a text message to his pregnant wife saying he loved her before he was found dead.

The man revealed Mr Ciano had made "many enemies" over the years.

"He caused a lot of problems," the man said.

"He ran out of friends and he ran out of places to hide."

Mr Ciano, 35, had moved to Queensland around 2015.

When his body was found he had been visiting Sydney and was reported missing by his family in February last year.
