Two charged with attempting to deliver cocaine in Arlington Heights

Feb. 04--A routine traffic stop led Arlington Heights police to arrest two men who are charged with attempting to distribute cocaine.

Antoine D. Davis, 32, of Hanover Park, and Xavier Gamble, 29, of Chicago were each charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, a Class X felony, Arlington Heights Police Cmdr. Nathan Hayes said.

Police first noticed the pair after the driver of their vehicle, Gamble, allegedly committed a traffic violation at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, as he turned into a parking lot in the 800 block of East Kensington Road, Hayes said.

The men then left their vehicle, a rental car, and entered a nearby restaurant, where police said they were observed acting suspiciously before leaving and getting into an Uber vehicle, Hayes said.

Police then stopped the driver of the Uber vehicle on a traffic stop, subsequently recovering 32.3 grams of cocaine from Davis, and 43.8 grams from Gamble, who has also been charged with driving with a suspended license, Hayes said.

The Uber driver was not charged, Hayes said.

At a Jan. 28 bond hearing, a Cook County judge set Davis' bail at $60,000 and Gamble's at $30,000, a Cook County State's Attorney's office spokeswoman said.

Davis and Gamble will appear at the Cook County Circuit Court in Rolling Meadows on Feb. 25.
