Two charged over Qld hunting knife death

Queensland police have charged two people following the death of a woman in Townsville. (AAP)

Two people have been charged following the alleged murder of a 29-year-old woman in Townsville.

Police were called to a residence in the suburb of Condon, 15km to the west of Townsville's CBD, on Friday evening where a woman was being treated for a life-threatening neck wound.

The woman, who had been stabbed in the neck with a hunting knife, was transported to Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition. She was pronounced dead a short time later.

Around 1.30pm on Sunday, a 39-year-old man surrendered himself to Queensland police.

Three hours later, detectives conducted a search of a West End property and took a 29-year-old woman into custody.

A 29-year-old Condon woman has since been charged with murder while a 39-year-old Townsville man has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Both have been denied police bail and will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday.

It is believed they were known to the 29-year-old woman.
