Two charged months after shots fired into car in Hunter's Coalfields

Police have laid charges after an alleged public place shooting at Cessnock last August.

The charges followed an investigation sparked when a 23-year-old man at a property on Cessnock Road at Neath on August 25 last year reported hearing a loud bang about 7.30pm.

He saw a nearby Holden Commodore had smashed windows and what were believed to be bullet holes.

Hunter Valley police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries. On Thursday they swooped, arresting a 21-year-old woman at an address in Macquarie Road at Cardiff.

The 21-year-old was taken to Toronto police station and charged with offences including fire a firearm likely to injure persons or property and possess shortened firearm without authority.

She was refused bail to face Toronto Local Court.

A 24-year-old man attended Cessnock police station about 6pm on Friday and was charged with offences including supplying a prohibited firearm and conceal a strictly indictable offence.
