Two charged following theft of Ladyton defibrillator

Two people have been charged following the theft of a defibrillator from the Ladyton Shops in Bonhill.

A 15-year-old boy and a man, 25, were arrested by Police Scotland’s Alexandria Problem Solving Team this week - with a report set to be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

The lifesaving device was stolen on January 11, with Jack Fordy of Bonhill and Dalmonach Community Council warning that the actions could have fatal consequences.

He said: “I can’t stress enough that if anyone does cause damage then lives will be put at risk. “And it could end up being a family member of someone doing the damage, or even the person themselves.”

Councillor Ian Dickson added: “This theft is completely pointless and I would encourage whoever has taken it to return it before their action costs someone’s life. It’s appalling.”

A Police statement said: “After extensive enquiries by our Alexandria Problem Solving Team, two males aged 25 and 15 have now been charged with theft of a Defibrillator from outside the shops in Ladyton, Bonhill on 11th January 2021.

“Both are subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.”
