Two men have been arrested and charged following an intelligence-led drugs recovery near Hamilton.

The recovery took place around 10.45am on Monday, November 29, when officers stopped a white Ford Transit on the M74 near junction 6.

Following extensive searches, a quantity of cannabis was recovered with a value of over £182,000.

The two men, aged 27 and 41, are expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court today (Tuesday).

DI Craig McPhail told Lanarkshire Live : "Drug misuse brings nothing but misery to our communities.

"I want to reassure the public that we will continue to use every tool and tactic at our disposal to stop these illegal substances from causing harm on our streets.

"Our work often relies on the support of the public, so if you have any information or concerns about drug misuse, do not hesitate to contact Police Scotland on 101 or report this anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
