Two charged after investigation into alleged human trafficking for sex industry

A man and a woman have been charged with human trafficking after an investigation by the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit. The pair, from Bolton, were due to appear in court today.

In a statement NWROCU said: "Attila Angyal, aged 41 and Melinda Petrovics, aged 33 both of Fortune Street, Bolton were charged with the following offences:

  • Conspiracy to arrange or facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation
  • Conspiracy to control prostitution
  • Conspiracy to conceal / disguise / convert / transfer / remove criminal property

"They are due to appear in Manchester Magistrates Court this morning."

The charges follow officers from NWROCU backed by GMP and Bolton Children's Social Care executing warrants at an address in Bolton on Wednesday following an investigation into a crime group suspected of trafficking women into the UK for work in the sex industry.

NWROCU said; "The arrests follow an extensive investigation with partners in Tackling Organised Exploitation Programme, Lancashire Police and Greater Manchester Police."
