Woman accused of trafficking $1m of ice through Australia Post denied bail

A woman charged with trafficking about $1 million worth of ice through Australia Post has been refused bail.

Lisa Lyn Harwood, 32, of Goodwood and 25-year-old Joshua James Barda of Bellerive appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Thursday after allegedly trafficking about 1 kilogram of the drug.

Mr Barda was granted bail while Ms Harwood was remanded in custody.

Ms Harwood will return to court next month and Mr Barda in August.

Police allege the drug was found concealed in mail packages in an investigation carried out by Southern Drug Investigation Services in cooperation with Australia Post.

Police Commander Tony Cerritelli said the seizure took the drug "out of the hands of vulnerable Tasmanians".
