Two charged after alleged 'gangland firebombing' of Edinburgh taxi firm

TWO men have been charged in connection with the firebombing of an Edinburgh cab firm.

Capital Cars on Gorgie Road was torched in a suspected gangland attack around 3am on Monday morning.

Two men, aged 25 and 26, have been arrested and charged – with both due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, August 19.

Police said yesterday that the fire caused no significant damage.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 3am on Monday, 18 August, 2025, we were made aware of a wilful fire at a premises in Gorgie Road, Edinburgh.

"Emergency services attended, however the fire had not taken hold and there was no significant damage.

"There were no reports of any injuries.

"Two men, aged 25 and 26, were arrested and charged in connection.

"Both men are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 19 August, 2025."
