Two Championship clubs suffer positive coronavirus tests with players and staff told to isolate

Three individuals from Championship clubs have tested positive for coronavirus in the latest round of testing.

The EFL say that 2,858 players and staff including those at Nottingham Forest have been tested, with the confirmed cases coming from just two of the 24 clubs in the second tier.

That's a reduction from last week's results, where eight players or staff tested positive across six clubs, while the amount of tests has increased over the past seven days from 2,213 - an increase of 645.

Those who have tested positive will now self-isolate as per the current government guidelines, the EFL said.

Meanwhile, there were no positive tests received from those tests taken in League’s One and Two with both leagues currently in the midst of the play-off semi-final campaigns.

“The EFL can confirm that 2,858 players and club staff from the 24 Championship Clubs were tested over the course of the past week with three individuals testing positive from two clubs,” it said in a statement.

“Those players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate in line with the guidelines provided by the EFL and only those who have tested negative will be permitted to enter training ground facilities."
