Two cats found 'mutilated' in St Anne's Park

Two cats were found dead in the St Anne's Park area of Bristol yesterday morning (April 1).

The RSPCA has confirmed it was contacted about the two cases, and stated an officer was looking into the incidents.

Reports on social media state two black cats were found "mutilated" close to an area of woodland near Robinson's Drive, with one left in a garden and another on a public footpath.

The RSPCA has not yet confirmed whether the fatal injuries were inflicted by a human or another animal, but one member of the public described the cats' wounds as "horrific", and said they appeared to be deliberate.

An RSPCA spokesperson said: "We were contacted about a dead cat which was sadly found in St Anne's Park in Bristol and an officer is currently looking into this.

"If anyone has any further information about this poor cat please contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999."

She also confirmed the charity had received a further report about a second dead cat but had limited details about the incident at the time of writing.
