Two casualties as Glasgow fire crews called to blaze on Maryhill's Wyndford Road

Fire crews were last night called to tackle a blaze in Maryhill which has left two casualties.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received a call shortly before 6pm on Tuesday after reports of smoke coming from a third floor flat.

Six fire engines were deployed at the height of the blaze, which has now been extinguished.

SFRS this morning advised two people were taken into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. Their condition is unknown at this stage.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 5.48pm on Tuesday, November 16 to reports of a fire at Wyndford Road, Glasgow.

“Operations control mobilised six fire engines to the scene and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a flat on the third floor of a three storey building.

“Two casualties were in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to assist the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service at a fire on Wyndford Road, Glasgow, which police were made aware of at around 6.05pm on Tuesday, 16 November, 2021.”
