Two cars lose their front ends in crash with M62 safety barrier

Two cars had their front ends taken off when they crashed into each other and then into the M62 safety barrier.

The accident happened on the westbound carriageway, close to Hartshead Moor services, at around 11am yesterday.

Photos of the crashed Citroen and Volkswagen cars show bad damage to the front ends of both vehciles.

There is also a bend in the safety barrier by the hard shoulder, where the cars collided with it. Debris and mud can be seen scattered across the motorway where the crash happened.

Motorway traffic cop, PC Martin Willis, tweeted the photos with the message: "The barrier did its job well at this collision M62 westbound prior to Hartshead Moor services."

He confirmed that nobody was injured in the accident and nobody was arrested as a result.
