Two-car smash leaves man seriously injured in hospital - the people in the other vehicle ran away

A driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash between two cars in Prestwich.

The driver of one car, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital with 'serious but not life-threatening injuries' after the collision on Bury Old Road at around 8.20pm on Friday (May 8).

He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The occupants of the other car ran away, police said.

No arrests have been made.

The collision happened on Bury Old Road in Prestwich (ASP)

A GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 8.20pm on Friday 8 May 2020 to reports of a road traffic collision involving two cars on Bury Old Road in Prestwich.

"The driver of one of the cars – a man in his 40s – suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a stable condition.
 

"The occupants of the other car made off from the scene on foot.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."

Police, firefighters and ambulance crews were pictured at the scene following the collision.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At 8.25 p.m. on Friday 8 May, two fire engines from Broughton and Agecroft fire stations were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Bury Old Road, Prestwich.

“Crews arrived quickly and made the scene safe before handing over to colleagues from North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Police.

“Firefighters were in attendance for around 45 minutes.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 3280 of 08/05/2020.
