Two car crash near tunnel causing 'traffic chaos'

A major road in Wirral is closed in both directions after a two car crash near the Wallasey tunnel.

Emergency services rushed to reports of a crash on Gorsey Lane, Wallasey, at around 4.15pm.

Once Merseyside Police arrived at the scene they found a black Ford Focus and silver Vauxhall Corsa had crashed.

Four fire engines, one ambulance and a paramedic vehicle along with police are in attendance at the incident.

Firefighters were dealing with the driver of the grey Vauxhall in his vehicle.

Although North West Ambulance Service were called to the scene, Merseyside Police have said there's 'no suggestion' of serious injuries.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "We were called just before 4.15pm. Ambulance called but no suggestion of very serious injuries."

While emergency services deal with the crash the road is closed in both directions.

An eye witness said the road closure was 'causing major traffic chaos' with vehicles backed up and others turning round to find alternative route.

Police remain at the scene.
