Two Canberra stores ram-raided in linked attack

Two Canberra stores were ram-raided less than an hour apart in what police say are linked incidents.

Police say a stolen silver Toyota Corolla was believed to have been used in the ram-raids at a Belconnen bottle shop and a supermarket in the inner north on Thursday morning.

The first ram-raid happened at a Liquorland at Jamison Shops about 4.25am.

The store was damaged in the incident, but nothing was stolen from the bottle shop.

About 5am, a supermarket in Braddon in Lowanna Street was targeted by the same car in a ram-raid.

Police say the shop suffered "significant damage" and items were stolen from the store.

The stolen Corolla was then found later in the morning by police in Downer.

Police are searching for those who were inside the car at the time of the incident.

Thursday's incident comes after Canberra saw a spate of ram-raid incidents during 2019.

Police said they would throw "significant resources" at investigating the ram-raids in 2019 after 10 were recorded in just one month.
