Two burglars broke into pensioner's house and stole treasured items belonging to his dead partner and son

Two burglars broke into a pensioner's house and took treasured items belonging to his dead partner and son.

The duo took a ticket stub from when the victim took his son away - an item he has cherished for many years as his son died shortly after.

They also stole a gold ingot the pensioner bought for his partner, who has also passed away.

The pair also took four gold necklaces, a gold watch, seven gold rings and a quantity of cash including foreign currency.

The break in took place on Dudley Avenue, in Whitefield , Bury on Wednesday, May 22.

It took place at around midday when the victim, aged in his 80s, was in the garden.

The offenders were dressed in black and are believed to have been wearing baseball caps.

One of the men is described as short and of a larger build.

Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with further information to come forward.

Information can be given to police by calling 0161 856 8172 quoting incident number 1171 of 22/05/19. Alternatively, information can be passed on to the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
