Two British tourists die in car crash in Malia on island of Crete

Two British tourists have died in a car crash in Malia on the Greek island of Crete.

Local media report that a male and female died instantly, and another woman was left seriously injured after the collision that took place on the northern Greek island at around 6am on Monday July 8.

A fourth tourist, an 18-year-old male, was not seriously injured.

It's believed the four were travelling in a rented four-wheel drive when it collided with a stationary vehicle.

A Foreign Office spokesperson said: "We are supporting the families of three British people involved in a car accident in Crete, and are in contact with local authorities."

Malia is a popular tourist magnet for young holidaygoers with its vibrant nightlife and beaches.
