Two Bristol businesses forced to close after coronavirus lockdown breaches - and seven fines issued

Two Bristol businesses have been forced to close down after breaching lockdown rules.

And seven companies have been fined for not following coronavirus restricitons.

Bristol City Council is in charge of issuing the penalties and closure notices.

A spokesperson for the authority was unable to confirm the names of the businesses which have been hit with penalties.

However, Bristol Live has already reported that the Jack of Diamonds club in Old Market has been fined twice for two breaches of the rules.

Owners will now have to pay £10,000, after police found a large group revellers at the venue on two occasions, past the 10pm curfew.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesperson previously said: "Officers found dozens of people inside the Jack of Diamonds on West Street on Thursday (October 29) less than a week after issuing the owner with a £1,000 fixed penalty notice for operating past the 10pm curfew - a breach which also prompted the council to issue the venue with a direction to cease services."

A spokesperson for Bristol City Council said: "Since March 2020, we have issued two closure notices and seven fixed penalty notices for breaches of COVID guidelines."
