Two youngsters have been hit by a car on the Gallowgate this morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene following the incident, and Police Scotland have confirmed that two girls were struck by the vehicle at about 8.50am.

There are no reports of any serious injuries.

The east end road is currently closed to all westbound traffic between Fielden Street and Abercromby Street and a police diversion is in place.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports of a car hitting two boys on Crownpoint Road at 8.50am this morning. Emergency services are on the scene. There are no reports of any serious injuries."

Glasgow City Council have warned drivers to expect delays following the crash.

A statement from the local authority reads: "Due to a Road Traffic Incident, Gallowgate has been closed (Westbound) between Fielden Street and Abercromby Street. Delays should be expected."
