Two boys hauled from thick mud in dramatic firefighter rescue in Leeds

Two boys were rescued from deep mud by firefighters in Leeds.

They got stuck in sludge on the building site in Magnolia Road, Seacroft, where new homes are being built.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene shortly before 5pm on Saturday, January 18 and they managed to haul both of the boys out of the thick mud.

Neither of them suffered serious injuries and they did not require hospital treatment.

A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "An emergency call was received at 4.52pm on Saturday to reports of a child trapped in mud on a building site.

"We dispatched the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), two ambulances and two clinical supervisors to the scene.

"One patient was checked over, but did not need to be conveyed to hospital."
