Two 14-year-old boys were rushed to hospital after being stabbed on board a bus in Glasgow at the weekend.

The attack took place on a bus travelling on Gorbals Street on the south side of the city on Sunday afternoon around 2:40pm.

Both teenagers sustained serious injuries in the attack and were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Their present condition is unknown.

Police have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing into the incident.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 2.40pm on Sunday, 4 October, 2020, police received report of a serious assault onboard a bus on Gorbals Street, Glasgow.

“Two male youths, both aged 14, sustained serious injuries and were conveyed by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”

Duncan Cameron, Operations Director for First Glasgow, said: “I can confirm that a serious assault to two teenagers occurred on board one of our Sunday afternoon services. We are doing all we can to assist Police Scotland with their investigation into the incident including making the CCTV footage available.

"First Glasgow condemns any acts of violence towards our staff or passengers and although incidents of this nature are very rare on our services, I would like to praise the driver for his quick reactions to aid the injured passengers.”
