Thousands of people across Ireland are in line to receive two once-off social welfare payments before Christmas.
A €500 Carer's Support Grant will be given to those eligible from the week starting Monday, November 21.
The social-welfare payment, which was formerly called Respite Care Grant, will be automatically paid to anybody receiving a Carer’s Allowance, Carer’s Benefit or Domiciliary Care Allowance.

In addition, those who receive a long-term social welfare payment of €20 or more will get a Christmas Bonus on December 5. They will get double what they usually receive.
Anybody who receives the following payments automatically qualifies for a Christmas Bonus:
