Two Blyth primary schools have sent students home after being hit with Covid-19 cases.
Some pupils at Malvin's Close Academy and Morpeth Road Academy in the Northumberland town are now self-isolating and working from home due to contact with a positive coronavirus case.
After just over two weeks back at school, a number of North East schools have had to close bubbles and send children home, with one Northumberland school, Ellington Primary, even closing completely as Covid left it with insufficient staff.
The schools did not confirm how many pupils were affected or how many cases had been diagnosed, but Northumberland Live understands that four year group bubbles from each school have had to work from home.
A spokesperson for the WISE academies trust, which runs both schools, said: "We are able to confirm that there have been a number of positive Covid-19 cases at Malvin's Close and Morpeth Road Academies in the Blyth area.
"Upon notification the Academies acted very swiftly to notify the year groups affected and then the wider school community. In line with Government guidance, the academies have robust risk assessments to manage Covid-19.
"All appropriate steps have been taken in line with the advice received from Public Health and the Department for Education.
"Our academies will continue to adhere to the latest guidance in handling any such situations, this includes ensuring remote learning is in place for those pupils affected by any 'bubble closure'.
"The priority will always be the safety of our pupils, staff and the community."
