Two workers at schools in Lancashire are in intensive care after testing positive for coronavirus, a headteacher has said.
LancsLive reports that Graeme Dow, the head teacher at Anchorsholme Academy in Thornton-Cleveleys, told parents about the staff members in the school's weekly newsletter.
It is not yet known which school - or schools - the staff members work at or how long they've been hospitalised for.
The newsletter said: "Sadly, I have also had the news that two members of staff from Blackpool schools are currently in ICU at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
"This reminds us how real the threat of Covid can be and how essential it is that we maintain the hand, face, space guidance."
Parents were reminded that no children nor their parents or guardians with symptoms of coronavirus should enter the school premises.
Mr Dow added: "If your child has any of the three symptoms - high temperature, new persistent cough or sudden lack of taste, you must isolate them at home until they have had a test."
The newsletter goes on to advise parents they must inform the school if anyone in their household tests positive for coronavirus. In such cases, the whole household needs to isolate at home for 14 days.
He continued: "We must be vigilant with this if we are to avoid staff and pupils contracting the virus and the subsequent class/bubble lockdowns that would follow."
A message on Blackpool Council website from earlier this month said the risk to children themselves of becoming seriously ill from coronavirus is very low and there are "negative impacts of being out of school."
