Two Bears practice squad players test positive for coronavirus

The Bears placed two practice squad players on the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list Monday: linebacker Manti Te’o and defensive tackle LaCale London. Both players tested positive for the coronavirus, a source said.

The Bears are working with the NFL to do contact tracing on both players, whose cases are unrelated. Anyone found to have been a close contact of either player will have to isolate for five days, dating to their last interaction.

As part of the NFL’s new, stricter protocol implemented last month, the Bears’ facility is closed to players on Mondays and Tuesdays except for testing, which takes place in a trailer in the Halas Hall parking lot.

Best-known as a former Notre Dame star, Te’o was signed to the Bears’ practice squad in October. London, an undrafted rookie, has been on the Bears’ practice squad since they cut and re-signed him at the end of training camp.

The 5-7 Bears host the Texans on Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field.
