Two Barcelona stars who could be swapped for Man Utd's Marcus Rashford

Barcelona will step up their pursuit of Manchester United star Marcus Rashford this summer - and could use two fringe players as makeweights.

Rashford has been in blistering form for United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s leadership, scoring 12 goals as United fight for a top-four place and European glory.

The forward’s current deal, worth £75,000-a-week, expires at the end of next season, with the option for an extra year.

The club are in talks with the striker's representatives over a bumper new deal but those discussions haven’t progressed as quickly as expected, and that has alerted Barcelona .

According to Mundo Deportivo , the Spanish giants are keen to add the England international to their ranks as early as this summer.

United want to keep hold of their prized asset, however, and are in a position where they do not need to sell their stars to raise funds.

But that won’t put Barca off, and it’s now emerged that they may include Philippe Coutinho in their first offer for the Premier League starlet.

Coutinho, the former Liverpool star, has struggled to settle at Barca and United are long-term admirers of the Brazilian playmaker.

Whether Coutinho will be keen on a return to the English top-flight remains to be seen, though, with the player no doubt keen to prove his worth in Spain.

Barca are also considering another Brazilian Malcom, who has failed to win over manager Ernesto Valverde since his arrival last summer from Bordeaux.

The 22-year-old has started just one La Liga appearance for the Nou Camp outfit this season, and is the type of player that could bolster United’s attack.
